Maybe you can make a custom BEx query just for your extract options so that you can create data sources on the server that many users can use! Option 3: Get with the times - move that data out of BW permanently. But if you want all of the functionality and speed that comes with a TDE, go the extract route. Once you have Tableau-friendly queries, the BW cube connections should be pretty fast, especially if your BW cubes live on HANA. Second, if its slow in Tableau its slow in BOBJ/Webi too. First off, this is really your best option working live - nothing else will improve performance more than trimming your BEx query to only pull the data you need to make your dashboard run. Alot of people might say “that’s alot of work” or “It works fine with BOBJ/Webi, just not Tableau”. Simply put, if you are connecting to a BW cube there are 3 ways to make the connections fast: Option 1: Optimize your BEx query. And then, like a magically unicorn of color saving :) Tableau 10.0 came to the rescue!!! Now when you add more than one color to this section, Tableau is smart enough to add the new color to the next available box, while NOT overwriting your original! Folks its the little things in life! This was a PAIN, especially if you were trying to pick a color from a website or a picture not in Tableau. Previously if you wanted to add more than one color, you had to select a white box first, then use your color picking tool.
This menu hasn’t changed in 10 in appearance (actually it pretty much resembles the same color menu in MS paint from 1996), BUT there was one HUGE functionality change in the Custom Colors section at the bottom. So, when you go into “Edit Colors” you get a “Select Color” menu.
So, this next section you can argue was taken care of with custom color palettes, but I don’t often feel like uploading a text file every time i want new colors to use in a dashboard - sometimes I just want a quick fix to remember my colors for the session I’m in.
